Lecture by Michel WACHENHEIM, President of Air & Space Academy
The lecture will present the challenges that aviation has to overcome for decarbonising its activities: clear and believable communication, technology capabilities including infrastructure, economic impacts, global interoperability including international strategies, and common assessment of the societal value of air transport. This presentation will refer to the conference "Air transport in crisis and the climate challenge" organised by the Air and Space Academy in March 2021, along with recommendations published recently in the form of an Opinion and works carried out within its commission dedicated to energy and environment. The objective will be to highlight the complexity of the actions needed, the urgency of effective actions associated with some political willingness, but also a real perspective of reaching a successful outcome.
